Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the Museum of Northern Virginia.
General Information
Where is the museum located?
You're looking at it! We're currently a 100% digital museum while our board works toward establishing a physical location. In the meantime, explore our collections and exhibitions online from anywhere.
Who founded the Museum of Northern Virginia?
The museum was founded by Martin Zager, a Northern Virginia native and history enthusiast. After his time-traveling DeLorean project didn't quite pan out, he decided the next best way to journey through time was by building a digital museum to preserve and share our region's heritage.
What is the museum's mission?
The Museum of Northern Virginia exists to educate and inspire the public by highlighting the rich history of Northern Virginia and its lasting impact on American history. We connect communities with local historical societies, sites, and stories, and showcase culturally unique artifacts that reflect the region's diverse heritage. Through research, preservation, and public programs, we work toward creating a future physical museum space where this history can be experienced firsthand.
